Job Title:  Small Business Developer

Primary Function:

Development and long-term sustainability of Red Lake Band member businesses within the Red Lake Nation economy, by analyze an entrepreneur’s initial options, plans, strategies, and ideas to provide feedback and guidance on how to make their plans and business stronger.  As well as monitoring business practices and financial statements of existing or struggling entrepreneurs, to make recommendations on how they can become more effective, efficient, and profitable.

 

Essential Deliverables:

  • Ability to create business plans and financial projections.

  • Provide technical assistance, coaching, and training in the areas of business plan development, finance packaging, and management for new and existing entrepreneurs.

  • Coordinating services in financial literacy, marketing, technology, and accounting.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and clients.

  • Help with teaching clients on a one-to-one basis or in a classroom setting, assisting with development and offering of educational classes and workshops.

  • Assist with documentation and maintenance of entrepreneurial activities in QuickBooks, to assist the program with measurement and evaluation of program impact.

  • Continuous monitoring of the business environment: analyze reports, trends, and data that will keep the program abreast of changes, and opportunities and resources that will benefit the entrepreneurs.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills; able to present appropriate and concise information, meet specified deadlines, and work well under pressure.

  • Assist with marketing and promoting of entrepreneurs and program services to the community.

  • Work with the Executive Director to define and achieve annual objectives and overall strategies for effective delivery of services.

  • Be an effective team member, working with an organization with a passion for service.

  • Trustworthy with confidential client and tribal information.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience creating and reading financial statements.

  • Experience or knowledge with writing and creating business plans.

  • At least 2 years of experience managing a business.

  • Ability to transfer knowledge to others in a professional manner.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field would be a plus.

  • Marketing and/or graphic design work is a plus.

  • American Indian Preference.
